What this tool does
Free CSV to QBO file converter
This free CSV to QBO file converter reads a bank-exported CSV locally, suggests mappings for date, description, amount, debit, credit and balance columns, then creates an OFX-based QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) file. It shows normalized dates, signed amounts and stable transaction IDs before download, and blocks output when any source row is invalid.
How to use it
Choose a CSV or TXT export from your bank. The file is decoded and parsed in this browser.
Confirm the date, description and amount mapping, including whether debits are negative or use a separate column.
Set the account type, account ID, financial institution ID and ending balance, then review every normalized transaction.
Download the QBO and upload it from the Bank transactions area in QuickBooks Online, or import it as a Web Connect file in QuickBooks Desktop.
Common tasks
Convert a three-column Date, Description and Amount bank CSV to QBO.
Map a four-column bank statement with separate Debit and Credit values.
Create a checking, savings or credit-card Web Connect file for QuickBooks Online or Desktop.
Privacy and local processing
Your bank CSV is read and converted to QBO by browser code on this page. File contents, filenames, column mappings and account settings are not sent to a CSV Dock application server or analytics.
Current QuickBooks upload boundary
Intuit's July 2026 guidance says a QuickBooks Online transaction-list upload must be 350 KB or less and can include up to 1,000 lines. This page blocks QBO downloads outside that boundary. Read Intuit's official upload instructions.
CSV Dock is not affiliated with Intuit. QuickBooks is a trademark of Intuit Inc.
Supported edge cases
US, day-first and ISO dates are supported, but ambiguous dates must be confirmed before download.
Currency symbols, parentheses, trailing minus signs, CR/DR suffixes and common decimal separators are normalized.
FITIDs are derived from normalized transaction content instead of CSV row numbers, so inserting unrelated rows does not change an existing transaction ID. Exact duplicate transactions receive separate occurrence IDs.
Frequently asked questions
Is this CSV to QBO converter free?
Yes. It runs without an account or server upload. There is no paid conversion step in this page.
Does CSV Dock upload my bank statement?
No. The selected file is read, mapped and converted in your browser. CSV Dock has no application endpoint that receives the bank CSV.
Why is download blocked when one row is invalid?
Financial imports should not silently omit a transaction. Fix the source date or amount, or correct the selected column and date format, then convert again.
What are FID and account ID?
They identify the financial institution and account inside the QBO file. CSV Dock does not supply placeholder identities: enter stable values for the destination account and keep them consistent across later imports. QuickBooks Desktop may work best with values copied from a QBO file issued by your bank.
Will the QBO work with QuickBooks Online and Desktop?
The file uses the QuickBooks Web Connect structure used by both products, but acceptance can depend on the selected account, financial institution ID, product version and current Intuit upload rules. Review the imported transactions before accepting them.
Which conversion direction does this page support?
This page converts a bank transaction CSV or TXT file to QBO. It does not convert a PDF statement to CSV, create QIF files or convert an existing QBO file back to CSV.
